MSM has a long tradition of being a family oriented and run company. Starting out almost 40 years ago, the Vige family has been deeply invested in the oil and gas industry. The current owner, Andrew Vige, has such love and passion for this work that he looks forward to every day to come in and see what the new day will bring. A simple conversation with him will give you everything you need to know about the man and his love for this industry. Because of this, MSM has invested a lot of time and money in building the relationships with their customers to show them that whenever they put trust in us to handle their project, we will always deliver.

Starting from a small shop with a single engine lathe, MSM has grown to having an over 350,000sqft under roof facility on 30 acres of property in Youngsville, LA. With customer satisfaction in our sights, MSM has developed a comprehensive Quality Management System utilized to maintain top of the line equipment and service. MSM has focused on developing different processes to allow for complete pricing and lead time control by incorporating every process needed, from start to finish. Turn key processing of your equipment is the ideal scenario that MSM is excited to offer all of their customers.

MSM currently holds ISO 9001:2015, API Q1, API 6A, API 16A, and API 16C licenses. I will be breaking down the scope of each of those license to help you better understand what they mean.

ISO 9001: 2015

Specifies requirements for a quality management system when an organization:

a) needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and

b) aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Systems; Welding and Non-Destructive Testing Services

API Q1

API Spec Q1 is a company level certification based on the standard developed and published by the American Petroleum Institute (API) titled “Specification for Quality Management System Requirements for Manufacturing Organizations for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry”. This certification is intended for companies who manufacture equipment or components of equipment used in oil and natural gas production. Certifications are issued exclusively by API. Companies must submit their quality manual for approval and host an on-site audit conducted by an API official. Companies must have a quality system in place at least four months prior to submitting an application. The quality manual must implement each review and risk-mitigation item outlined in the standard, and the full system must be audited every year to ensure continued conformance to the requirements.

Systems; Welding and Non-Destructive Testing Services

API 6A

API Spec 6A is an International Standard that specifies requirements and gives recommendations for the performance, dimensional and functional interchangeability, design, materials, testing, inspection, welding, marking, handling, storing, shipment, purchasing, repair and remanufacture of wellhead and christmas tree equipment for use in the petroleum and natural gas industries.

MSM Scope: Adapter and Spacer Spools, Blind and Test Flanges, Tees and Crosses, Threaded Connectors at PSL 1, PSL 2, PSL 3

API 16A

API Spec 16A defines the requirements for performance, design, materials, testing and inspection, welding, marking, handling, storing, and shipping of drill-through equipment used for drilling for oil and gas. It also defines service conditions in terms of pressure, temperature, and wellbore fluids for which the equipment is designed.

MSM Scope: Adapters, Drilling Spools and Hub and Clamp Connectors

API 16C

This specification establishes the minimum requirements for the design and manufacture of the following types of new equipment:
a) articulated choke and kill lines;
b) choke and kill manifold buffer chamber;
c) choke and kill manifold assembly;
d) drilling choke actuators;
e) drilling choke controls;
f) drilling chokes;
g) flexible choke and kill lines;
h) union connections used in choke and kill assemblies;
i) rigid choke and kill lines;
j) swivel unions used in choke and kill equipment.

These requirements were formulated to provide for safe and functionally interchangeable surface and subsea choke and kill system equipment utilized for drilling oil and gas wells.
